ABOUT LUKE TYRRELL

Luke Tyrrell is a multi-award winning classical guitarist from Reading, England. Combining his wealth of knowledge from all genres and varieties of guitar playing and his special interest in works that are under appreciated and under performed, Luke strives to offer audiences diverse and unique recitals.

Tyrrell has performed at many prestigious venues and events around the United Kingdom, including at The London Guitar Festival, Hellys International Guitar Festival, The Spanish Embassy, The Royal Greenwich Guitar Festival, The Old Royal Naval Chapel, and Charter house. Above all, in 2021, whilst still an undergraduate, he was honoured to win the Allison Stephens prize for plucked strings; in 2024, Luke was included as a member of the International Guitar Foundation’s Young Artist Program for the 2024-25 season.

Tyrrell is currently presenting a programme of his favourite pieces collected during his time studying in London at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. This includes lesser known compositions from South America by Walter Heinze and Isaias Savio, and a wealth of early 20th century works from Spain. This period of Spanish history has been of particular interest to him and has shaped much of his recent study.

Luke Tyrrell is proud to be supported by a number of organisations, such as Help Musicians, The Greenwich Bluecoat Foundation and the Henry Wood Accommodation Trust. He currently performs on a 2023 ‘Domenico Montagnana’ guitar by the German master luthier, Otto Rauch.
